Introduction letter for Eitan Torz, Israeli Shaliach (Emissary) Eitan Torz was born and raised in Be’er Sheva, “The capital city of the Negev”. He is the oldest of three siblings. Eitan attended Makif Alef high school, where he learned different fields of science. He participated in the program “Scientific leadership”, operating afternoon activities for children who have been victims of domestic violence. Eitan served in the Israeli Defense Forces’ Air Force as the operator of the “PATRIOT” anti-aircraft weapon system. After 2 years operating the system he was chosen to take part in the officer courses, where cadets train and learn how to operate the system. After he got discharged he took different educational positions focusing on science, instructing a wide variety of different groups such as: religious schools, Bedouin schools, special education groups and more. These experiences inspired him to take part in the “Shlichut” (Emissary) Program, and try to highlight Israel, for its diversity, vitality, and complexity. Eitan enjoys hiking and traveling abroad, cooking and reading books in his free time. As an educator, ideas are the greatest field of interest for Eitan. Therefore, he likes to share thoughts and different points of view of the world that we live in, challenging reality as it changes.
